I've been a creative writer for many years. Before that, I was an actress, and before that, a musician. Although I rarely talk about it in professional settings, I've always viewed the creative act as something like a spiritual practice. If pressed, I would say that "art is my religion."

But I recently encountered the spiritual practice of witchcraft. Not in some shady corner of the internet, but in person, among people I know and trust. Spoiler alert for those who haven't encountered witchcraft yet, it's nothing like in the movies. I've actually known many folks over the years that practice Wicca in some variation, but I never took much interest before. Perhaps I simply wasn't ready.

Recently I decided to delve deeper. And I have been struck by how much of an overlap there is between writing and witchcraft. Between storyweaving and spellweaving.

I need to understand this, so that I can understand if I need it.

You're welcome to walk this road with me as long as you like.
